STARTUP MAIL ACCEPTABLE USE

Send email people expect.

Effective August 2, 2026 · Policy version 2026-08-02

Allowed email

Use Startup Mail only for person-to-person conversations and transactional messages that the recipient explicitly requested, initiated, or must receive as a necessary part of an active account, purchase, support request, or direct conversation.

For any optional message, you must have the recipient’s explicit request or permission before sending it.

Not allowed

  • Marketing newsletters, promotions, bulk campaigns, or drip sequences.
  • Cold outreach or messages to purchased, rented, shared, or scraped contacts.
  • Phishing, impersonation, deception, malware, harassment, or unlawful content.
  • Sending to an address after a bounce, complaint, opt-out, or request to stop.
  • Attempts to evade sending limits, suppression controls, or identity checks.

Your responsibilities

Keep recipient data accurate, secure your account and API keys, send only from domains you control, and promptly honor any request to stop. Do not use Startup Mail as a substitute for a consent and subscription-management platform.

Delivery standards

Keep complaint rates below 0.08% and bounce rates below 4%. These are maximums, not targets. We may pause sending sooner when message volume is small, feedback is severe, or a pattern indicates abuse.

Startup Mail records bounce and complaint feedback, suppresses affected recipients, limits new workspaces, and may automatically pause sending when feedback indicates risk. We may suspend or terminate sending to protect recipients, other customers, and our shared provider reputation.

Report suspected abuse to hello@startupmail.dev. Include the sender, recipient, approximate time, and message headers when available.
